View Based Design for Stereo Panoramic Vision Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
Panoramic imaging is becoming an increasingly important tool in the areas of mobile robotics and machine vision. In the area of panoramic stereo imaging for range measurements two views of the one scene can be captured by a single camera using a discontinuous mirror surface. It is critical in this case to optimise mirror shapes for this application. In this paper, the needs of panoramic stereo imaging are spelled out, and various mirror surfaces compared in terms of these needs. In particular, cone, constant gain and hyperboloidal mirrors shapes are examined.

Single-camera panoramic stereo imaging system with a fisheye lens and a convex mirror.
This paper presents a panoramic stereo imaging system which uses a single camera coaxially combined with a fisheye lens and a convex mirror. It provides the design methodology, trade analysis, and experimental results using commercially available components. The trade study shows the design equations and the various tradeoffs that must be made during design. The system's novelty is that it prov...
متن کاملDynamic mutual calibration and view planning for cooperative mobile robots with panoramic virtual stereo vision
This paper presents a panoramic virtual stereo vision approach to the problem of detecting and localizing multiple moving objects (e.g., humans) in an indoor scene. Two panoramic cameras, residing on different mobile platforms, compose a virtual stereo sensor with a flexible baseline. A novel ‘‘mutual calibration’’ algorithm is proposed, where panoramic cameras on two cooperative moving platfor...
متن کاملEnvironmental Perception for Intelligent Vehicles Using Catadioptric Stereo Vision Systems
This paper presents advantages of catadioptric camera systems for robotic applications using the example of autonomous vehicles and driver assistance systems. We propose two different catadioptric stereo camera systems to improve environmental perception. Both stereo camera systems consist of at least one catadioptric camera, which combines a lens with a hyperbolic mirror and provides a panoram...
متن کاملStereo Matching and 3D Reconstruction via an Omnidirectional Stereo Sensor
A catadioptric vision system using diverse mirrors has been a popular means to get panoramic images(K.Nayar, 1997) which contains a full horizontal field of view (FOV). This wide view is ideal for three-dimensional vision tasks such as motion estimation, localization, obstacle detection and mobile robots navigation. Omnidirectional stereo is a suitable sensing method for such tasks because it c...
متن کاملStereo Calibration and Rectification for Omnidirectional Multi-camera Systems
Stereo vision has been studied for decades as a fundamental problem in the field of computer vision. In recent years, computer vision and image processing with a large field of view, especially using omnidirectional vision and panoramic images, has been receiving increasing attention. An important problem for stereo vision is calibration. Although various kinds of...
